Helmet for toddler

I'm looking for a suitable first helmet/cage for my 2 1/2 year old. The only one I can seem to find is the Itech TH20. Is this a good appropriate helmet? Are there any other options out there that I should consider?

That's what my guy wore when he started.

At that age, kids have very round heads; that is one of the few helmets that works at that age.

That was my son's first helmet as well. Not sure what the smallest setting is on this helmet. Could work.

Started my son in hockey in this one too. Prior to that he was (and still uses) a ski helmet for general skating. There's a Bauer Techlite now. The sizing is a fixed shell with different foam pad thicknesses to adjust for size.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting the Bauer TH-20 - AKA the Bauer Techlite - which is a renamed Itech TH-20.

It's a lot warmer than most hockey helmets. Think of it like skating around with a Styrofoam cooler on your noggin. Depending on the setting, that could be a plus or a minus. If he's learning on an indoor rink, you can probably ditch the jacket. My son always looked like he had taken a shower after a skating session. He still misses the helmet, as it's pretty light, but it's too old to be certified for use in his league.

UPDATE: I ended up returning the TH-20 and getting the M-10.

The TH-20 was almost impossible to get to fit correctly on my son's head. It comes with tiny adhesive fuzzy pads to customize the fit, but they are pretty much useless.

The M-10 on the other hand has the following advantages over the TH-20:

- Easier to fit smaller heads - It comes with thicker replacement foam inserts that are held in place with velcro. The thicker inserts made for a perfect fit on my son's head.

- Looks better - It looks like an adult helmet as opposed to a bowling ball like the TH-20

- Lighter - Going only by feel, it appears to be a tad lighter than the TH-20.

Cons:

- More expensive

- Harder to find in stock

If you can find them, there was a CCM HT2 ( i think, looks like the old-style ccm lid ), that I picked up for my 19 month old that is adjustable and fits him really well. I got it from a local shop. It has a head lock and excellent protection.
