"Custom OPS" makers?

Recommended Posts

Are there any companies out there that will make a custom pattern for a retail customer? I know Ballistik offered it a few years ago, but doesn't look like it's available now.

Combat (formerly Ballistik) will be offering custom again.

i know people have done Easton Custom Woodies as well as Christians before, but for composite Combat is the only one I know of.

Sherwood as a custom SOP program for their RM19 OPS. The T100 will replace the RM19 this year. Call their SOP dept for more info: 866-563-2205. You will most likely have to go through a retailer to complete your order though.

I know a women that didn't get a custom curve but got a lower flex than 77 (68?) in an adult Bauer x60 stick.

Now you tease us

It was a smaller manufacturer, but I really liked what they said they were planning to do. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to reveal details as they are obviously subject to change until they make the announcement. It also certainly wouldn't be fair for people to hold them to the details of preliminary discussions.

Reebok actually does custom 10ks as well. Im not sure about 8.0.8 customs, but my LHS just got a shipment of 12 in for a guy.

Downside is that the minimum is 12 initialy, and 6 everytime after that. And they're quite expensive after buying all those sticks

Did the guy get a discount from retail for his mass order? Even if it's a custom pattern, they'd still be making big bank.

maybe, but how many of those kinds of sales are you going to get? not many, and this dude is getting some great service so why discount it?

If it's just once, I agree, but it'd be a good way to guarantee a repeat customer.

They have to cover the expense of the mold, I can't imagine a discount for such a small order.

i couldn't imagine him going around to different LHS placing re-orders. safe bet that if you land a guy who lays down cash for 12 custom sticks, you've got him for repeats as long as you don't screw it up.

Sorry, but a custom curve is just stoking your own ego. A discount is unnecessary and the cost involved is merely a stupid tax.

I tend to disagree with that. There seems to be less & less variation of retail patterns/lies every year. With that and the sudden influx of people having access to pro stock sticks, some of which that have patterns with nothing even close at retail. Custom sticks are a market waiting to bust open. It seems like most LHS's want nothing at all do with it, though. I've tried to ask three different shops about Sher-Wood's RM-19 program to get my Hossa pro stocks cloned and they've all told me that they don't do it. Unfortunately, there isn't a single retail toe curve, the closest was the Warrior Smyth which has also gone the way of the Dinosaur. I'm guessing that is what most of the custom orders want also.

Most custom orders are "give me a sakic with my name on it"
