Helmet suggestion/input...

I'm considering either the bauer 4500 cage combo or the ccm v08 cage combo. Anyone had any experiences with either of these? Wondering what people think is most comfortable. I don't have the ability where I live to try any on. thanks!

edit: the nike/bauer is closeout on IW for 59.95 and the CCM is 69.95 fyi

my suggestion is try on each helmet, see what fits best. I'm assuming you want VN padding, since you only mentioned the v08 and 4500, in that case, don't rule out the rbk 4k, the easton s9 and the bauer 5100. I'd personally go with the the s9, i've had experience with both the v08 and 4000, and enjoy the s9 the best.

4000 was a bit too narrow for me, V08 fit perfectly.

A month ago I bought a ccm v05 (not the 08, I know) after barely trying it on in the store, assuming that since I was coming from a ccm it would fit fine. After 10 minutes of sizing and resizing at home, I realized that it was just too wide. I returned it, tried on a bunch of helmets and eventually bought the 4500, which fit my head much better. I don't think my head is sized especially weird in any direction, it just happend to be "the one."

How far away is the nearest store? It might be worth taking a roadtrip to try on some lids. Your brain is your brain. It sucks to lose a day and however much you spend on gas, but it might be cheaper than buying a helmet online and having to return it.

The other day I went to Play it again sports and they only care the CCM v08 and Nike Bauer 4500. The Bauer seemed very narrow or "tight" and it was a large, and I even tried to adjust it. I then tried on the CCM v08 and it almost seemed to big in the large. There is one store that does carry Easton helmets within driving distance, but a very slim selection of hockey equipment here in Cincinnati...

4000 was a bit too narrow for me, V08 fit perfectly.

I found I was half way between a perfect fit in either -- I removed the temple bolts and surlyn ear guards on the 4500 and it fit me great, I added a couple hdpe washers to the temple bolts on the V08 and it fits great too.

do any specific companies have wider / larger helmets in Large?

I saw on inline warehouse nike/bauer has some XL sizes. Dunno if those would fit...

If it is wider helmets, then try the RBK 4K (dunno about 6K or 8K)

I have a wide head and ONLY the 4K would fit
