My wife has not divorced me since I started buying too much hockey stuff. She also understands that I need to play at least twice a week for my mental health.

+1 on 2x a week.

She's also gotten me Center Ice for my birthday 3 years running.

I encorage the other half to play at least 4 nights a week... 5 if possible. When he comes home he is so tired that he falls asleep in the same position and doesnt move all night and I have a great night's sleep :P

Wife came home on Monday with two tickets to the Leaf/Bolts game for this past Tuesday and reservations at Harbour Sixty. Great night.

I think I definitely win in the awesome wife category, and here is why.

First I get to play hockey twice a week, (Friday and sunday) no complaints.
Second, she let me take this old nasty busted fridge I got free on craigslist

And turn it into

And the closet in the spare room (now my fermenting room) into

We are planning our christmas party so she said to me this week "Are you going to have enough beer for the party, maybe you should brew more". Ok, I'll make more beer if you REALLY want me to :P

So, in summary

Play in 2 leagues
Turned dining room into bar
Turned spare room into fermenting room
Turned spare closets into bottle aging chambers!!!

In addition to this for my 30th birthday/3rd wedding anniversary we went to Montreal to watch a Canadiens game (she knows I want to see a game in all original 6 team buildings as well as all canadian teams, so this was a way of killing 2 birds with one stone.

And she is just pretty awesome all around, including the toleration of my gear-whorery, which I have blamed MSH for 100%
I love you so much that if we were on a plane that was crashing and there was only one parachute I would reminisce about you often and fondly.

hard to top that awesome brew set up but.....

my girlfriend not only plays hockey but plays on just as many teams as I do. we play on 2 teams together and then we each have a separate team. if that wasn't good enough she doesn't drink so I can have as many beers as I want after the game and she'll always be sober to drive home! :D

Had a 10:45 game last night, came home with chicken dumplings on the stove and fresh bread just out of the oven at 12:30AM. On top of that she lets me play 3-4 times a week without any grief. Can't complain :D

Just don't come home early, you'll be closing windows. On the plus side, you could end up with some nice, free shoes.

Next Sunday, I will be playing a game and then going out to the bar - on my wife's birthday, with her blessing. That would be both the official evening, and the night of the actual celebration with her family.

This will complete a Triple-Crown of romantic absenteeism, having previously skipped out on a wedding anniversary and a Valentine's dinner for crucial games.

This from a girl who had never watched a game in her life. I think she's still guilty about the first time she came to one of my games and accidentally cheered when I got scored on; she had lost track of the play around the net, heard other people get excited, and thought she should too. It was adorably crushing.

My girl was the commentator for our team in Australia, and is actively bi-sexual. SHe loves that I play hockey because she thinks its manly, she lets me play video games on occassion as well!

As an aside, her cousin is the Executive VP of Hockey Operations for the NHL's Farm System. It's a pretty great family!

My girlfriend didn't break up with me after I told her I was going to play Juniors. Plus she would always surprise me Hawks tickets, can never go wrong with that.
