looking for help advice/skates/footpain

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

im looking for a bit of help. about 3 months ago I went from an x7.0 in which I had zero issues to an x100 skate. reason was my brother started playing an offered to buy them, and felt like I could go for an upgrade anyway and basically would get them half paid for.

first couple skates were terrible. I had really bad side foot pain, that was so bad once you took your skate off I couldn't even put my feet on the ground for about ten minutes.

I took them back, they re fitted some super feet that were wider, and re baked.

another skate and although there was a slight improvement, same pain and issue. I also feel that there seems to be weird pressure points through the bottom of my foot. just doesn't seem to feel right. like im standing on un even surface.

I took them back again, and they rolled out the sides a bit they felt were causing issues, but still not much of an improvent. I kept skating thinking it would be break in but honestly I cant really take much more of it. the pain is so bad that it moves up my shins from tensing muscles I guess and basically builds lactic acid and I have foot pain, and tight shins. its a nightmare. I don't even want to play In them any more and basically handi capped my game to the point I cant even skate a full game.

I really should have taken them back and exchanged as they just weren't working but its a bit to far now.

so im looking for any further advice, to help. possible special insoles that aren't super feet? should I get these completely punched somehow? re bake again? what about the bottom is there anything to make them more contoured to the bottom of my foot?

if anyone had any issue with trying to get skates fit and get rid of foot pain let me know. ill pretty much try anything

Thanks so much

What do you mean when you say they 'rolled out the sides'? Did they stretch them and leave them on the stretcher?

Are there misaligned holders?

I watched them put the boot on some kinda stretcher yah. But actually they literally rolled it on something across the boot.

Maybe this is heat rolling or something I think he said

How can u tell holders are misaligned? The skates were brand new though

...

why change? zero issues = no problems

x7 is not exactly 'entry level'

don't fix what ain;t broke

hope you still have them...

usin the x7s means you have time to work on the new pr to maybe get them fittin better.

the whole 'upgrade' thing can be froth with bullshit marketing

In my experience, not all skates (even within the same line) will fit the same. There are different materials and design aspects in play that can affect fit more than you might expect.

For example, I recently tried on Supreme 180s and NXGs back-to-back. The 180s felt good but there was a little too much wiggle room for my liking. The same size NXG felt like it was molded to my foot. I actually replaced my Vapor X7.0s with the NXGs because the vapors were causing me all sorts of problems (bunions, Bauer bump, blisters, etc.)

As moreoutdoor said, in the future, don't give up a well fitting pair of skates you have no complaints with.

Fair enough.

It does seem wierd to get completely bad foot pain with the switch. I have worn vapors for 7 years

I will try those insoles. I also plan on hitting a running shop this weekend get some plantar faciatis treatment

Options a lot of people seem to think I have that.

You're not gonna like hearing this, but here goes. I had very similar issues in a pair of skates and the conclusion I eventually came to was there wasn't enough volume in the arch area to fit my flattish feet. Like you I had terrible pain and couldn't skate. There's in my experience no amount of baking and punching that can fix this.

Two problems you might be having with the x100 specifically.

1) Bauer changed the last a bit on this group of vapors.

2) While the x7.0 was very stiff, that material is a little more break-inable over time than the new curv composite stuff.

See if you can trade your brother for your old skates back - maybe the 100s will work for him.

I'm sure I could trade but wouldn't want to make that my bros problem.

I will see how the insoles do, I will also get them re baked, and try some more stretching.

on the charmin squeeze scale the x100 are mighty stiff.....i thought the z air comp was stiff,...but .the x100 didn't seem to have much give at all

They do seem stiff. I don't mind it if it wasn't giving me the pain.

Just kinda noticed that it's mostly left foot aswell. My right seems to be ok this last skate. Seems to have been more corrected there.

It's the outer entire portion of the left bottom that's an issue now
